Stress less
Everyone knows that stress is a leading factor in aging. As noted by the National Centre for Biotechnology Information (2020), not only do the cells age faster but the consequential inflammation is a leading factor in atherosclerosis, diabetes, hypertension, and other diseases. To combat stress, we suggest either participating in Yoga as you not only improve balance and flexibility but by focusing on your breathing your heart rate and blood pressure will also be reduced. Similarly, try to meditate at least every morning as science has shown that during sessions of mindful breathing you are copying relaxed breathing patterns which in turn, calms the nervous system and reduces stress hormone levels. Eat WellÂ
Most importantly, avoid refined sugars! Eating a nutrient packed diet full of antioxidants will not only keep you looking younger but will also help you live longer. For example, fermented foods such as yoghurts contain good bacteria which reduce the incidences of age-related intestinal illness, nutritious oils found in fish will reduce cholesterol build up and olive oils contain powerful antioxidants that prevent age-related diseases.
